Phonebook Plus is a great application and just wait until I tell you what it can do!! It keeps names, address, cities, states, zip codes, and telephone numbers. And it can also print envelopes for you, and labels, and will even dial the phone!!!!

Phonebook Plus lists the phone numbers and address is alphabetical order, and you can search Phonebook Plus merely by typing in the first three letters of anyone's name, and zip, it goes there. Also you may choose type search sensitivity, on how fast you type.

You can also do a search by Categories, such as friend, business contacts, etc. And furthermore, with find and print functions, will only find and print the currently displayed records, so that categories will print a subset in your individualized phonebook.

To add a new name in your Phonebook Plus just select New Record or type command-N, and type is "John Smith" for example.

To enable you to switch panes, just the Command right arrow or Command left arrow to move to a previous record simply hit Command Up arrow, and to move the next record just type Command Down arrow. I LOVE keyboard commands!

If you click on the telephone, it will dial the number for you. All you have to do is hold the real telephone near the loudspeaker, and hit the telephone button. Or alternatively use Desktop Dialer by Sophisticated Circuits. A comma indicates a two second pause, and the circumfex, like this ^, indicates you want a six second pause. That is really next; the number six is under the circumfex. Brackets indicate extensions. When you dial a number and it is busy, Phonebook Plus "remembers" the number that you dialed, just hit Redial.

In addition, it can also time log phone calls. In case you want to do that, it will log all the time that you have talked. If you are using Desktop Dialer, you can say Stop Logs when Phone hangs up. Sad to say, if you are using the speaker to dial the phone, there is no way that the Macintosh computer can say stop logging calls. You have to click the Stop button.

Phonebook Plus will also print envelopes for you. Go to Page Setup, and pick page size and orientation. You can choose the font, typeface, and margins, from the Page Setup menu.

The long and the short of it is you can do just about anything with Text Edit, put in graphics and text. You can put in the date, the long way or the short way, such as November 12, 2003, or 11/12/03.

Now we get to the File menu. If you hit New, you get to choose between Phonebook and Report, OK and Cancel. Choose the type of file you want and hit OK.

You can export file and import files, and all manner of things. I dislike looking up the letter on the push button phone. But just select "Recognize Alphabet Characters" and it recognizes the number that is on the push button phone. Is that cool, or what!

There is a manual that comes with Phonebook Plus, and you can learn tons more out of the manual.

Phonebook runs on Mac OS 7, 8, 9.0, 9.1, and 9.2.2.

Phonebook Plus earns very high marks from this reviewer.
