TopXNotes Preferences

You can customize TopXNotes using a wide variety of Preference choices. There are five Preference panels: Application, NotePad, Text, Note and Security.

The first tab, Application, contains items affecting the entire application including startup and save options. These affect how TopXNotes is configured on launch and how often the main data file is saved. Backup File Settings control the frequency of backup copies of the main data file. These are automatically created based on the numbers you select.

The second tab affects the entire notepad, and since this version of TopXNotes supports only one notepad, this might seem similar to tab one (Application) items to you. New in this section is the ability to more finely control the columns in the NoteOrganizer. Although the note name and category columns are required, you may now choose to show one, or more of, the note number and/or the new date columns.

The third and fourth tabs (Text and Note) contain items affecting individual notes. Please experiment with all settings and see what you like. Tab 3 shows your changes “live” so you may find it particularly interesting. Note that tab 3 settings are for new notes, and do not affect any note you have already created.

Tab 3, shown above, is for setting text options.

Tab 4, shown above, contains a few miscellaneous items affecting the entire notepad.

Tab 5 (above) is for setting and managing your main TopXNotes password.

To encrypt all of your TopXNotes notes simply enter a password consisting of 25 or fewer characters in the Preferences Security tab. This is your main TopXNotes password and TopXNotes will not open your notes at all without it. To remove the password simply delete the password and leave the space blank. Then your notes will no longer be encrypted and a password will not be requested to view or change notes.

Tab 6 (above) is for setting and managing your iPod and related options.
