TopXNotes Preferences
TopXNotes can be customized using a wide variety of Preferences. There are six Preference panels: Application, NotePad, Text, Note, Security and Devices (including iPod, iPhone and iPad). The Application tab contains items affecting the entire application including startup and save options. These affect how TopXNotes is configured on launch and how often the main data file is saved. Backup File Settings control the frequency of backup copies of the main data file. These are automatically created based on the numbers you select. The Notepad tab controls the columns in the NoteOrganizer. Although the note name and category columns are required, you may choose to show the note number and/or the date columns. The Text and Note tabs control the way individual notes are displayed. The Text tab settings are for new notes, and do not affect any note you have already created. The Text tab, shown above, is for setting text options. The Note tab, shown above, displays controls that affect the entire notepad. Auto-Link Recognition will attempt to verify if any ftp, email, or www link you type is valid after you enter a return or space. If so the link will be underlined, turned blue, and both the text and underlying link will become editable. The Note Margins Preference (added in 1.7.2) allows you fine control of how close to the edge of the note window text is allowed. The default os zero (vertical) and three (horizontal) which seems to most closely match other note and word processing applications running on Mac. The Security tab (above) is for setting and managing your main TopXNotes password. To encrypt all of your TopXNotes notes, enter a password consisting of at least 4, but no more than 25 characters in the Preferences Security tab. This is the main TopXNotes password. TopXNotes will not open your notes at all without it. To remove the password, delete the password and leave the space blank. Then your notes will no longer be encrypted and a password will not be requested to view or change notes. The "Show as I type" option should only be used when setting a password in a private environment. If you are concerned someone might see the password as you type, do not use it. The Device Preferences tab (above) is for setting and managing your interactions with Apple touch devices like iPod touch, iPad and iPhone. The iPod Preferences tab (above) is for setting and managing your Classic iPod options. See the Classic iPod Features section of preferences for more details. Return to TopXNotes Main Help page. |
