TopXNotes 1.4.0 VERSION NOTES

Starting with version 1.4, the functionality of TopXNotes iPod has been included in TopXNotes. If you own an older version of TopXNotes you now get all the functionality of TopXNotes iPod at no extra charge. If you own a version of TopXNotes iPod, you will continue to enjoy classic iPod compatibility as well as the new features included in version 1.4.

TopXNotes 1.4.0 has the following changes:

MAJOR CHANGES

This "unity" version has significant changes so it honors all previous serial numbers for TopXNotes and TopXNotes. "TopXNotes iPod" ceases to exist and TopXNotes now contains all iPod features formerly found in TopXNotes iPod.

NEW FEATURES

  • Spell Checking
  • Insert Date/Time
  • Note Info (formerly called Note Settings) now contains notation to make locating a note hiding in a Group hierarchy easier by displayed note path in Group hierarchy (in blue)
  • Note Info now contains "Number of lines" and "Number of characters" (text color green)
  • Keyboard shortcuts for View to View navigation

CHANGED FEATURES

FIXED

  • Minor change in note loading so a note will continue to be read even if a null character is present
  • This version also will not require repeated serial number entry after free version updates.
  • Fixed issue with deleting notes with names longer than 31 characters

PREVIOUS VERSIONS NOTES:

  • TopXNotes 1.3.2 contained Sparkle based automatic update checking.
  • TopXNotes 1.3.1 added over 100 built-in Samples and Templates

Macintosh System Requirements for TopXNotes

Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther) or higher is required for TopXNotes. TopXNotes is completely compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard).

iPod System Requirements for TopXNotes

TopXNotes supports what are now called "classic iPods". We do not support the iPhone or iPod Touch at this time. The iPod export feature requires a 3rd generation or newer classic iPod. If an iPod has an LCD and Dock connector, and the Apple Notes Reader is installed (which it is by default on those iPods that have the notes feature), the TopXNotes export feature should work with that iPod.

For help on troubleshooting iPod issues, please see our iPod Tech Notes.

What about the iPhone and iPod Touch?

Tropical Software was the first developer to sync notes from the Mac to the iPod, and bringing this functionality to the iPhone andiPod Touch is a high priority for us. We are hard at work on a notes product for the iPhone and iPod Touch that will sync up with a new version of TopXNotes (also in development).
