TopXNotes Device Preferences and Features
Touch devices (iPhone, iPod touch and iPad) Sync vs. "Classic iPod" Export This version of TopXNotes enables sync to touch devices (iPhone, iPod touch and iPad) and maintains export to "Classic" iPods (revision 2 or later only). These are different. Because you may change notes using TopXNotes touch on your device and/or change notes using TopXNotes on your Mac, you will synchronize (sync) the files based on modification time and date. There is no ability to change notes on a Classic iPod so TopXNotes exports the notes you select so that you can use the Apple Note Reader to look at them. Features for touch devices (iPhone, iPod touch and iPad) There are no Preferences for the touch devices at this time. Note: You need to input your TopXNotes Mac (version 1.5 or newer) serial number to TopXNotes touch before you can sync to/from Mac. Before you try to use the TopXNotes sync feature, you must first do the following: To Set up Sync on your iPhone: To Set up Sync on your Mac:
Only notes you choose to Sync to your iPhone will be copied from Mac to iPhone. Now press the "Sync" button in the toolbar (or select "Sync" from the File menu: This will bring up a small Sync window where you can discover iPhones and other Apple touch devices. Select the one you wish to sync with and then initiate a sync by pressing the sync button in the Sync window. NOTICE: NO ENCRYPTED/PASSWORDED NOTES WILL BE SYNCED At this time no passworded notes (which are also encrypted) will be synced due to U.S. Export restriction issues. We hope to do this soon. After Sync, your Notes will be identical on Mac and touch devices except that the TopXNotes touch does not support styled text at this time. Once you have selected a device, the Sync button will enable. Then press Sync and any note on the device will be copied to the Mac and automatically be given the Sync category. Simultaneously any Mac originated note having the Sync category will be copied to the device. Also any note deleted on either side will be deleted on the other. Once the sync operation completes you will see a report on what was copied like the one shown below. After the initial sync you can sync whenever you like to keep devices and your Mac in sync. "Classic iPod" Features TopXNotes also includes features specifically designed for the Classic iPod. For help with Export to Classic iPod Classic iPod Help page. Return to TopXNotes Main Help page. |
